BUSD Prioritized Facilities Projects

Bishop Elementary School

  • K/1 propane Line replacement - propane line is currently shut off.  Trenching project began 9/1/23 to replace / sleeve with new propane line

  • Methane mitigation - ongoing; site assessment conducted, DTSC environmental oversight agreement in place, severity currently deemed “low”

  • Fencing - expand Kinder yard to include shaded area behind K/1 building, awaiting materials so Boyd’s can begin the project, add a gate in front of office, gates on walkway next to preschool, TK yard expansion after.

  • Playground areas prone to flooding  - sump pumps purchased & used to clear out surface water on 3rd/4th gd blacktop & TK playground

  • Construction of Modular Building (2 classrooms, ASP room, & new health office) - modular has been designed and ordered; awaiting DSA approval to begin site work, site work to begin January 2024

  • Classroom and Hallway Flooring - classrooms and hallways across campus being prioritized by need during 23/24 school year for replacement

  • Ceiling leaks & stains on ceiling tiles - patching leaks as they arise, roof replacements in long term deferred maintenance plan

  • Classroom HVAC units - all past expected lifespan

  • Student Restrooms - outdated, replacements in long term deferred maintenance plan

  • Fix/replace student water fountains

Home Street Middle School

  • Library/MP Roof - replacement in long term deferred maintenance plan

  • Classroom HVAC units - 30 years old, need replacing; 35 units will cost an estimated $300k

  • Security cameras - installation in progress by ICOE Tech team

  • Student Restrooms - outdated, replacements in long term deferred maintenance plan

Bishop Union High School

  • Roof Replacements - ranked by priority

    • Ag Building - awaiting 9/18/23 mandatory walkthrough; bid packet deadline 10/11/23; estimated job completion date: 12/27/23

    • Math Building - out to bid (due 12/18/23): multiple classroom leaks; also likely a systemic plumbing/drainage problem

    • English Building - out to bid (due 12/18/23): multiple classroom leaks; also likely a systemic plumbing/drainage problem

    • Main Building - multiple classroom leaks

    • West Gym Locker Room - replacement included in 23/24 budget

  • HVAC Systems - cooling systems not operating

    • CLBR

    • Autoshop

  • Security Cameras - installation in progress by ICOE Tech team

  • Student Restrooms - outdated, replacements in long term deferred maintenance plan

  • Mall/Quad Area - smooth surface and new landscape, clear our sewer line from BSC to street

Alternative Ed Sites

  • KBS Water Line - replace so doesn’t freeze in winter

  • Internet Connectivity - Frontier high speed internet service installation

  • HVAC systems (5) - 30 years old, will need replacing

  • Replace building ramps

Transportation 

Buses - ordering 2 new diesel buses, receiving 3 new grant-funded electric buses & charging stations; grant request for charging station infrastructure to be installed by Edison

District

  • Replace MOT Building - partnership w/ ICOE to replace and also provide space for Tech team

  • Connectivity - transfer cell phone service provider from Verizon to AT&T/FirstNet
